Group budgeting

Users can turn on or off budgeting at the group level for both income and expense groups, instead of budgeting at the category level.

When turned on, any categories within the group will no longer have individual budget items, and their “Actual” amounts will instead roll-up to the group level and be compared to the group’s budget. An example of this can be seen below:

To turn group budgeting on:

  • Navigate to your Plan page.
  • Find the group that you would like to toggle on the group-level budgeting for.
  • Hover over the title of the group to see the Settings Gear icon:

  • Under Budget, you will have the ability to expand this drop down and select to budget "by group".

  • After selecting how you want this group to be budgeted, save your settings change.
  • You will now see your categories adjusted and calculated by group spending. The group's budget can be adjusted at any time and your group budget will be recalculated.

To turn group budgeting off and use category budgeting:

  • Navigate to your Plan page.
  • Find the group that you would like to toggle on the group-level budgeting for.
  • Hover over the title of the group to see the Settings Gear icon:

  • Under Budget, you will have the ability to expand this drop down and select to budget "by category".

  • After selecting how you want this group to be budgeted, save your settings change.
  • You will now see your group adjusted and broken down by category spending. The category's budget can be adjusted at any time.
