Known Connection Issues

This list is updated at least once a week:

  • Ally Bank - May give the error message "Vendor systems are down". Please try again, we are working with Ally on a fix. Ally investments may report as cash accounts and need to be recategorized in Monarch as investment accounts. Transactions may show locations instead of merchant names. 
  • Amazon.com Store Card - Amazon is currently experiencing connectivity issues. 
  • American Express - Some accounts are having trouble connecting or getting updates. We are working with our data partner on getting this connection better.
  • American Express Personal Savings - Has implemented changes that block connections.
  • Bank of America - New account connections may fail. Please wait and try again.
  • Barclaycard - Duplicate transactions may show up when the account is added, either during the initial connection or on updates. Barclay's is working on a fix.
  • Capital One - Capital One is currently limiting how often apps like Monarch can automatically refresh. We've asked Capital One to allow apps to connect more frequently but for now manual refreshes should work.
  • Capital One Credit Cards - Duplicate transactions may show up when the account is added, either during the initial connection or on updates. Capital One is working on a fix.
  • Citibank - May prevent users from connecting, some transaction updates may fail so try a manual refresh of the account.
  • Citi Custom Cash Cards - May appear to be missing due to an existing issue that is being worked on.
  • Discover - Discover only allows updates between 8am - 8pm eastern time. Importing check transactions will often fail. A bug exists where Discover may delete the account connection leading to new transactions no longer coming in. We're currently working with them on a fix.
  • Fidelity - Fidelity blocks all connections weekdays 9am - 5pm (ET). You will have to connect your Fidelity account at night or weekends outside these hours. Once connected Monarch will refresh at night and weekends. The connection status will show red or "down" during the hours Fidelity blocks connections.
  • Fidelity MFA - does not allow apps like Monarch to connect to them when MFA is turned on, we've asked them to update their security settings to allow this but for now MFA with Fidelity will not connect to Monarch.
  • Fidelity Net Benefits - New account connections may fail. Wait a little while and try again.
  • Fundrise - We are experiencing issues connecting with this institution.
  • Gemini - Currently down.
  • Interactive Brokers - In order to connect you may need to do the following:
  • Marcus by Goldman Sachs - Accounts disconnect repeatedly. Our data partner is working on a fix.
  • Northwestern Mutual - Northwestern Mutual does not allow outside connections to any of their accounts or policies.
  • One - We are experiencing issues connecting to this institution. Try refreshing or contact us.
  • PenFed Credit Union- Has implemented technologies that limit or prevent aggregation. Data providers are coordinating with them to resolve issues.
  • PennyMac Loan Services - The account is not currently supported. 
  • Raymond James - If you are unable to add an account, try using the web app through an Incognito window. Select the "automated phone call" for OTP.
  • Robinhood - May display an invalid balance. Our data partner is working on a fix.
  • SoFi - Some accounts are not getting updates.
  • Target REDCard - Our data partners are not able to support this institution.
  • TD Ameritrade - May return an incorrect balance. MFA is not supported.
  • TD Bank - TD Bank currently only allows transaction updates daily between 11pm-6am EST. Try a force refresh during that time.
  • T. Rowe Price - Our data partner is currently rebuilding its connection to this institution. 
  • USAA - Adding a new account may fail but you should try again. Transaction updates may be delayed. Credit card accounts may show debits as income.
  • U.S. Bank - We are having issues connecting to this institution.
  • Vanguard - Vanguard blocks all connections weekdays 9am - 5pm (ET). You will have to connect your Vanguard account at night or weekends outside these hours. Once connected Monarch will refresh at night and weekends. The connection status will show red or "down" during the hours Vanguard blocks connections.
  • Wealthfront - If using MFA you will need to create an app-specific password.

As a last resort if you are having connection issues you can always manually add transactions to a connected account or even create a separate Manual Account until the connection is repaired.
