Sometimes, you need to delete a financial institution or specific financial account. This could be to troubleshoot a connection issue, or you have a financial institution connected that you no longer need and don’t want the history of the account(s) in Monarch.
A financial institution contains the financial accounts. For example, American Express is a financial institution, and the accounts within that could be the American Express Credit Card and American Express Savings account. If you delete a financial institution, all related accounts will also be deleted. But if you just wanted to remove one of the accounts, you could choose to do so without impacting the other accounts or the overall financial institution.
Tips for deleting a financial institution or account
Deleting a financial institution or account permanently removes all of its history in Monarch, including the transactions and balance data. Note: This is very different from deleting your Monarch user account. We don’t recommend doing that as a troubleshooting step, as there is no way to recover a deleted Monarch user account.
